On Juneteenth, we celebrate the end of slavery. But the freedom granted to enslaved African Americans in 1865 was short-lived. In a video message, Bishop Eaton recalls the differences experienced by White American soldiers and African American soldiers after World War II.

In observance of the 10th anniversary of the tragic shooting of nine martyrs at Mother Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, S.C., Bishop Eaton calls on us to “lament the wounds of the sin of racism that sow seeds of fear, division, and hatred.
